Snowmageddon!
We are on day number two of, “Snow Day!! - NO SCHOOL!!” I made a paper snowflake and slipped it under Toby’s door while he was still asleep, to alert him of the fun day ahead today. The kids are thrilled to have another cozy day at home, sleeping in, eating pancakes, doing puzzles, and shoveling / playing in the snow.
This snow is DEEP! It seems that no matter how many times I shovel a path for our beagle, Maple, she insists on pouncing through the deep, and playing in it. I am thankful that she enjoys it, and does not resist going outside no matter how cold it gets here. She brings the entertainment in our backyard. I honestly have no idea how many inches have fallen at this point, but it feels like we are over 12” so far between yesterday and this morning, with snow continuing until tomorrow morning. I found myself looking at the radar this morning, and instead of a typical storm system that moves through, it is swirling in place! :) It sure is beautiful!
This week is the busiest week at work for Darek so unfortunately he has not been able to stay home with us. Thankfully he does not have a long commute, and the plows are keeping the roads as clear as possible. That, and most people are not on the roads so hopefully he does not have to worry much about crazy drivers.
The most incredible thought that continues to cross my mind is that each snowflake is unique. Can you even imagine it? My girls and I were discussing how no two fingerprints are the same, and considering that there are seven million people on earth, that is A LOT of fingerprints!! God’s perfect attention to detail seriously blows my mind. If He should care enough to make each fingerprint uniquely different, and each snowflake it’s own design, how much more does he care about the details of my life?!?!
Instead of wondering what comes next or worrying about tomorrow, let us sit in today. Enjoy this beauty that is all around! Whether it is a snowmageddon like we are experiencing, or comfy jammies, sunshine, trees, flowers, lakes, oceans, birds, or simply the beauty found in conversations with people around us. Find JOY in the moments God has orchestrated for you.
